Title: unwanted hybrids

Hi,
In m, garden C. ligusticus and C. banaticus are flowering now.
Is there a risk of hybrids?
How do they look like?

I've never heard of, or seen, C. banaticus hybrids of any kind. This is not to say they don't exist - and I bet some  people have tried to get hybrids!

Are they not insect-pollinated? If so, the main thing will be how many insects are on the wing.

There are a small number of papers published online, covering VERY few species, that suggest that self-polination is rare, but otherwise pollination is not inhibited (implying that hybridisation is possible).

Maybe test the possibility by using a brush on just one or two marked flowers to transfer pollen between the two?

What species are involved in commercial varieties?

You are right! I have tried crossing banaticus with different other species without any luck.

Thanks, that calms me down. Because I don't want a hybrid
