Pelargonium barklyi is the first into flower this season, but others will follow soon.

I like the leaves on Pelargonium barklyi. I have a small plant grown from AGS seed sown in December and labelled Pelargonium australe. The leaf looks very like P. barkleyi and not much like the pictures of australe on the internet. It has a flowering stem already with 4 buds almost open. It's always a pleasure when wrongly named plants turn out better than the one you were expecting. Thrills of the seed exchanges ;D

Good going Roma, to have barklyi flowering within 6 months or so of sowing. Yes my auritum came as seed labelled something else too.
I find that collecting seed is hit-and-miss unless seedheads are bagged before they explode.
The other challenge is to prevent seeds 'pinging' into oblivion while trying to remove them from the mericarp.
Probably the safest way is to both collect & clean them inside a muslin bag.

Very nice Shelagh. I’ve just started to build a small collection of Geranium sanguineum cultivars and so far have ‘Shepherd’s Warning’, ‘Jubilee Pink’ (both originally Jack Drake bred) and var. striatum. More to come too. I have to say that having seen your and Ashley’s Pelargoniums I could very easily get into those too.

Two native Geraniums growing wild here at my summerhouse. They seed themselves around. G. sanguineum and pratense. Both are common here.

David the Pelargoniums have to go into the greenhouse or garage over winter, apart from Sidoides which survives in the garden.

Thank you Gerd, this plant grows at a hot and dry place near the trunk of a 1o m high
Chamaecyparis and only few plants are able to exist by these conditions.

Both lovely plants Roma 8)
Still flowering today are
P. reniforme and
P. 'Kewensis' variously described as a primary hybrid from the late 18th century or 'found at Kew around 1934' & possibly involving zonale & 'scandens'. Quite a nice colour, finely lined, but not really done justice by my photo.
