This year Lycoris sprengeri put up the first flower but I missed getting a pic :-[
Luckily a second stem came up in another part of the garden :)

I love the blue in the petals, and obviously attractive to pollinators.

Welcome, Koneko - strong flowering there!
Nice to meet you,Maggi Young . L.radiata and L. albiflora bloomed.
L. radiata blooms near the Equinox Day, so it is called equinox flower in Japan.

They are so lovely Koneko. It is on my wish list, once COVID passes, and once I've won the lottery, to visit Japan in September to see the Lycoris on the Kinchakuda Plateau.

Have you ever been?

Hello,Gail. It's one of the most famous places, I've never been there, though. I recommend rice terraces which have yellow rice ears, blue sky and red lycoris
There are various size places in a wide area of the country. So we can get there more easily.
Some place are actively promoting as a regional development project.

How very beautiful - I shall add it to my list of places to visit...
I bought this as Lycoris radiata from a well-known purveyor of dutch grown bulbs and was very excited to see the flower bud but, although undoubtedly a lovely flower, it is Nerine not Lycoris.
