All Welcome!!

You may remember this post from the Stirling Show in Dunblane thread ....
Can I bring this urgent note to the attention of readers and show-goers:
The following plants were taken from the showbench by mistake - Narcissus Ballet Girl, Senecio leucophyllus, ( silvery foliage) Synthyris stellata, (round leaves, blue spire of flowers) these were in a cardboard box belonging to M& H Taylor - please can they be returned to Edinburgh Show.
Sadly there was no return of the plants at Edinburgh, but Margaret and Henry Taylor would like it known that they will attend the Perth Show - so if anyone found "extra" plants in their car after the Stirling Show, the Taylors will be delighted to have them returned in Perth.
This is the pot of Narcissus 'Ballet Girl' which was one of the three plants that went missing - it is the Taylor's own hybrid....

So, Primula 'Celtic Maiden' has moved from being White to Yellow between Sandy's Perth report of 15 April 2017 and Stan's report today? Surely not ;D
-
Tempted to say it's any girl's prerogative to change her mind, David - but perhpas this needs checking!
-
I am grateful to the editor of the SRGC journal The Rock Garden, for this lovely photo from Perth today - I really must include his comments, also .......
"Dear All
This may amuse you. I think it is a lovely picture of some of the Perth Show ladies … or of some of the Perth Show lovely ladies … or of some of the lovely Perth Show ladies? Perhaps all of them! (An editor never sleeps).
Regards
Anton "

Got this info from Graeme and Hilary Butler, who raised both 'Celtic Maiden' and the "imposter" as it now seems, in Sandy's 2017 report!
"The plant in photo from 2017 was most likely Sue Watt's : Graeme had wrongly labelled a couple of plants in 2016, when recovering from a serious bout of swine flu. He alerted her to this mistake. The plant in that pic is our P. 'Late Frost' which is also featured correctly in that report ( on page 11) . 'Celtic Maiden' also appears correctly in Primula 3 pan class in same report. "
So, case solved!!

'....another lovely picture of some of the Perth Show ladies … or of some of the Perth Show lovely ladies … or of some of the lovely Perth Show ladies? '
but what are they laughing at??
[attachimg=1]

Finally the Perth team soon had the big hall cleared. Alison tells me there were 20 exhibitors - down a bit as some people weren't able to come -but they still managed 145 entries of which 25 were in section 2.

Love the Primula maximowiczii Stan. I've just bought a young one - any tips on growing?
Vulnerable to dry hot weather which may be an issue where you are -it can be even on the east of Scotland these days. If in a pot keep out of your alpine house in summer in shade and well watered. Move under cover in winter. Leafy or peaty compost but free draining. Can be short lived so make use of any seed it produces.
-
Thanks Stan, it's currently in a pot on the north side of the house. Biggest challenge so far is the very tame cock blackbird who insists on pulling all newly potted plants out of their pots, presumably just in case I've been burying worms underneath them...
-
From Stan's photos we can see that the entries were down on previous years - but good to see the RBGE Alpine Dept. put on a display - and won a Gold Medal for their efforts. Photos from Petra Palkova, SRGC member and RBGE employee and "reporter" !

Interesting to see that there is a higher number of "alpines" than the usual display which is often "bulb heavy". Such is the season!
Nice to see David Knott send congratulations to Petra Palkova and Scott Cook on Facebook for their work, too!

I've just realised I omitted to post these two snaps earlier.
