The Year 2019 marks several birthdays for the garden  - Jardin alpin du Lauteret -
120 years of presence on the site site
100 years of garden on its current location
100 years of mirande chalet.
The garden offers us events to celebrate these birthdays. The program will follow...

are you going there? I guess i'll stay in Huez or nearby.

By the while i take this opportunity to state that with 3 other botanists i'll explore the Meije between 3000 and 3200m.
We'll be guided by a great friend mountain leader. We'll be happy to have other fellows to join us.
The only constraints are off course a good physical state and basic alpine climbing techniques.
You can message me for more details. All will depends of weather, snow state, etc.

"The Lautaret Botanical Garden is an altitude garden (2,100 meters) of the alpine massif, located at the Lautaret pass, on the border between the French departments of Isère and Hautes-Alpes. It was created by Jean-Paul Lachmann in 1899. It brings together more than 2,000 mountain and Arctic plant species over an area of two hectares. The flora gathered in the garden is organized in the form of thematic rocks, i.e. massifs grouping species by biotopes, by families... It has been labelled "Remarkable Garden" by the Ministry of Culture."

Brought to mind  by the  great day today in Le  Tour  de  France  ( thanks  goodness  for  TV!) - riding  past  the  alpine  garden and  over the  Galibier  :)
