A first contribution to this theme was sent by Yann at September 19th (Narcissus cavanillesii) in Narcissus September 2017.
Here are my first autumn flowers -
a special coloured Narcissus miniatus (obsoletus), of Israeli origin (with best thanks to the donor).
The last photo (from 2009) shows the colouration of an own plant, found in Spain.

Glad to see you continue your success with these, Gerd. I find them very beautiful.

very nice, can't wait my bulbs from Rafa's seeds to bloom. :P

Maggia and Yann -
Thank you both for kind comments!

Narcissus tazettus starts here to flower, much earlier than ever.
-
Very interesting Stefan!
When does this provenance (from Gargano/Italy?) flower normally?
Gerd
-
I can't say. First they flowered around Christmas, next winter in March and now the first are starting in September.
-
Thank you Stefan! I had a similar experience with Narcissus papyraceus from Southern Spain, which at one occasion flowers in October but after that never again.
Gerd
-
This is Narcissus cavanillesii - most probably the subspecies mauretanicus
- flowering more reliably than plants of Spanish origin
Gerd
-
Narcissus x alleniae, autumn ones are my favorites
Nice plant Yann- this is also one of my favorites!
Why don't you post them in 'Autumn flowering Daffodils NH'?
Gerd
-
oupss, i'll move my post.

I have seen further flowering stems today that will come into flower during the following weeks.
Very nice and unusual Narcissus these cavanillesii.

Hi Gerd,
I see on Daffnet ( http://daffnet.org/narcissus-x-xanthochlorus/ (http://daffnet.org/narcissus-x-xanthochlorus/) ) that N. x xanthochlorus (N. cavanilesiix N. viridiflorus) could be fertile.
Have you any experience of this?
cheers

Hi Fermi,
- unfortunately not! I received a few bulbs of this cross from its 'creator' but I had no seedset. This is most probably caused by our weather conditions here with too low temperatures for the development of seeds.
This species has a tendency for splitting, so flowers are rare. With some luck I'll have one flowering plant this season and so there will be a chance for a new test.

I greatly admire not only the plants, but also the skill of growers to flower these beauties.

Rafa,
While we experience one rainy week after another it is difficult to imagine that your country is suffering from an awful drought.
I amso sorry about that.

Enchanting, dainty little flowers aren't they?
-
xantho is so pretty :)
-
very nice Gerd!
Can you tell me the regime of watering? I started 1th of september but how many times do you water and how much?
I see you have allready much more in flower than i have. I read they are overflooted so they can have/NEED?? a lot of water during growing season.
I grow them in the same frame as Crocus and crocus are much more advanced allready
-
Ruben, in my 7x7X10 and 10x10x14 pots i water them twice a week those last weeks, this until november. then i reduce to one watering, one feeding this until december.
I've found serotinus in lagunas very wet, bulbs under water.....with a lot of wind. If grown underglass your must ventilate a lot to reproduce the climate.
-
Wonderful Narcissus everyone !!
Here, Narcissus serotinus in flower.
-
Once again, thanks for kind remarks!
@Luc: This is Narcissus obsoletus (miniatus). For Narcissus serotinus s. str. (sensu stricto- in the narrow sense) please have a look at Rafas pics of October 7 th. You can see the yellow corona and the typical form and colour of the tube.

Ruben, I always start in the first two weeks of september, after a drop in temperatures. At first I give plenty of water (Ian's September storm) because I know that the beginning of growth (flowering) is triggerd by decreasing temperatures and moisture. After that I have a similar watering regime as Yann has.
Although I sometimes found daffodils in very wet situations I believe they don't like too much water during their whole growing season.
Generally a good 'baking' during the resting periode seems to be essential for a quick start. I received a bulb from Israel (where a good baking is given naturally) and this specimen flowers ahead of all others - see my contribution of September 24th. Bulbs which were stored only 2 months instead of 3 (25 ° C) begun their growth more than a week later than the others after first watering.

Not only the narcissus but also the peoples in Europe grow generally taller than here ;D ;)
-
Narcissus miniatus, JJA 702.259. Turkey, Içel, E of Akdere. 185m. Open areas among Quercus coccifera scrub on limestone. R. & R. Wallis 08-122.
The forcast says dull, humid and lower temperature days will continue more than a week here :( It's very unusual for this time of year.

Nice group of miniatus !
I guess it is the immense amount of rain which is the reason for this phenomenon - after this year we will reach the 2 m mark ;)

Somewhat surprised to find that 'Avalanche' has decided to flower now - I think it was flowering in March...[attachimg=1]

You've got a opportunity to pollinate its fresh pollen with early flowering daffs, Gail!
Narcissus 'Lima's Shooting Stars'.
It looks the flower has just opened. Is the flower fading whiter and getting less yellowish now, John?
-
The flower stalks are getting taller than usual because of dull weather :( But I found a seedling with wide and flat petalled flower :)

Are these fertile, Gerd?

Flowering today in a windy Northern Ireland. Been outside all year. Bulbocodium of some sort but foliage is strap like and prostrate.

Narcissus bulbocodium -of some sort!
-

Tatsuo,
To be honest - I do not know. At least N. x perezlarae is infertile according the present literature. With both species
I never had seeds. It is difficult to test because due to our climatic conditions here the developement of the capsules usually stops
when it gets too cold.

Hi Dave,
amazingly on the other side of the world we have a very late Narcissus bulbocodium in flower which looks similar to your early one!
I posted a pic on the Southern Hemisphere threadhttp://www.srgc.net/forum/index.php?topic=15773.new#new (http://www.srgc.net/forum/index.php?topic=15773.new#new)

Thank you for your detailed reply, Gerd :) May be I can test their seed/pollen fertility at my place ;D ;D ;D

Narcissus viridiflorus, MS.500, Spain, Sancti Petri. Its flowers are very difficult to take pictures for me :-\
The bulbs were from Kurt Vickery in 2016.

Some days ago, I discovered a Narcissus viridiflorus growing between herbs in the garden, probably a lost seed that blooming now and I played with it comparing with N. x perez-larae and Galanthus peshmenii

I'd like to make such discover in my garden :P

If I had reversed the pictures would anyone have been the wiser? ;D
-
Narcissus romieuxii subsp. albidus var. zaianicus flowering again - it flowered in February as well.

-
Narcissus albidus SF110 x bulbocodium praecox Moulay Brahim in bloom for 2 weeks
-
First Narcissus this winter.
Grown from seed many years ago as Narcissus cantabricus hybrid. Nothing special about the flower but but it flowers every year unless I do not repot it for a number of years and the bulbs get too small. It multiplies very well too.
-
Narcissus ‘Lima's Green Goddess’ opened a little late.
-
Narcissus ‘Craigton Chorister’
Long-awaited “hoop” season has just started at my place :)
-
Lima green is a nice selection :o
Narcissus 'Atlas Gold' x albidus SF110 is flowering for 3 days

Narcissus ‘Lima's Green Goddess’ opened a little late.
Lovely - I had this and stupidly left it behind when I moved house...

Lovely to see the daffodils waking up!
This little lady was sent to me by our friend in Japan ;) - as usual it is growing a little taller for me, but what a cute little flower.
