This show still tends to be known as the "Stirling" show, in spite of having been held in venues outside Stirling for many years! It is, however, the Stirling Group of the SRGC which hosts it - for the last few years this has been held in the Kincardine Community Centre at Anderson Lane, Kincardine FK10 4SF
This year's date - Saturday 25th March - Show Secretary Sam Sutherland and his Team will be delighted to welcome all exhibitors and visitors.

Nurseries attending will be Ardfearn, Hartside and Rumbling Bridge - these photos are from Rumbling Bridge today.

And at Ardfearn a bumblebee is enjoying a Saxifraga Hindhead seedling

:o
*sigh*
It's wonderful to see such well grown stock for the rock-garden but heartbreaking to know we have no access to such bounty!
:'(
cheers

The snap was requested for another website. Most of these are likely to go to Kincardine- apart from the succulents - if they will fit into the car along with one or two others.
-
A bit of a surprise for Neil & Sue Huntley - " waking up to the snow this morning at Hartside Nursery (http://www.plantswithaltitude.co.uk/) -- hope it goes soon - got to sort plants out for SRGC Show at Kincardine on Saturday"
A snow shock even for "Plants with Altitude"!!
-
Good luck to all attending for a great show on Saturday.
The SRGC site is undergoing updates and attachments to forum posts are disabled at the moment- also the forum will be offline altogether tomorrow for more work. We hope this will not be for too long.
There are notices to this effect in the General area of the forum and in the Notice Board section.
All back to normal now- Fred Admin got Forum all sorted overnight !
-
Forum back to normal, thanks to Fred!
These pictures of the RBGE plants in preparation for the show from a Tweet by Richard Ian Brown of RBGE.
The RBGE Alpine Dept. will mount a display tomorrow at Kincardine -

My desert island daff! But so hard to get hold of. When my triandrus deigns to flower (still waiting ::)) I'll follow the BDs lead and recreate the cross.

Photo from Alan Gardner of a very fine pot of Narcissus obesus grown by David Millward ( "Dr Rock" ) which was awarded the Forrest Medal for the most meritorious plant in the show at Kincardine today.... and which also won the Ben Ledi Trophy for best European plant and was awarded a Cultural Commendation from the Joint Rock Committee - quite the hat-trick!!

A quick summary of the trophy winners. David's very fine Narcissus bulbs were the Lee Martin form given to him by Bill Robinson who won a Forrest medal with a similar pot at a previous Edinburgh show
-
Alan Gardner did well in section 2
-
several very good plants received certificates of merit
-
Alan Gardner did well in section 2
Well done, Alan - Fife County Trophy for most points in Section II and Bronze Medal - that was a good day's haul!!
-
David Millwards' Forrest Medal plant is a stunner - we hear it came originally via Bill Robinson- we've been sorry to hear how poorly Bill Robinson is right now - nice fillip for him and Marian to have "their" plant win the medal.
-
The RBGE mounted their customary excellent display and received another gold medal. This time they also received a professional Forrest for their very attractive little white triandrus type daffodil which has featured in their display before. Not surprisingly it soon attracted the public's attention.

......and time to go home. Thanks to Sam and his team for a very enjoyable day in Kincardine. My personal thanks to Frazer for help carrying out my boxes. I am signing off my general account but there is plenty of scope for others to contribute more detail on the plants.
-
Fine report as usual Stan, with some fine plants and some exceedingly fine white beards!
-
Thanks again for sharing the show with those of us that didn't manage to go.
Angie :)
