Hello, could you give me your precious opinion I received two sachets of seeds named Erythronium dens-canis. According to the excellent publication of Ian Young, I think the first photo is dens-canis. The second picture is something else I think. What do you think ?

First ones - E. dens-canis 100%.
Second - they look so dry that's hard to say, maybe hydrate them and the shape will be more clear. Not impossible to be from an E. oregonum - but this is just speculation.
Are they seeds of this year?

I hope they are fresh. I received them this morning from the SRGC exchange. However, neither color nor shape (more elaiosome on one and not the other) They are rehydrating. I make a picture tomorrow. ;)

Second lot seem to have a bit of mould, Fred. Perhaps a soak and then some rinsing will reduce it. With luck the mould is only on the outer coat of the seed and has not breached into the embryo. Hard to tell what they are.

The seeds are rehydrated. Here are the ones I doubt to be Erythronium dens-canis.

Is hard to say Fred. Some have that pointed end like dens-canis.
There can be surprises from seedex, so the waiting will be even more exciting :D

Not impossible to be from an E. oregonum - but this is just speculation.
Our Western erythronium seeds do not have elaisomes.
You have a generous amount of whatever it is. Let's hope it's lovely.

Yes, anyway, I'm not too worried. I like surprises. Anyway, when they arrive at the first flower, it can feed the subject "identification".
