Title: Rhodophiala 2020
Post by: fermi de Sousa on March 04, 2020, 12:51:25 PM
I found these two varieties of Rhodophiala bifida in bloom this morning having seen nothing here 2 days ago!
The pink is from seed from forumist Santiago in Argentina and the red is from Josie, one of our group members in Leongatha
cheers

This orange red Rhodophiala bifida is the first one I ever got and it has been crossed with the blood red form a few years ago

Here are the progeny of that cross - going particularly floriferous this year

Hi Maggi,
I'll pass on your compliments to them - I really can't take credit for the way they grow though we have learned that they flower a little earlier if they get a little water in late summer.
Here's yet another form of Rhodophiala bifida. This was the result of the orange-red form setting seed the first year or second year it flowered in about 2009. Since I've never since been able to get seed on it I've presumed that it's self-sterile and I used pollen from a related plant such as Sprekelia. After 11 years it has finally flowered and I doubt that it's a bi-generic hybrid!

In 2011 I got seed of this dark red Rhodophiala bifida from forumist Santiagao in Argentina.
Today the first flowers appeared!
