Maybe someone visiting one of the AGS or SRGC Shows that Aberconwy are due to attend this year  could collect an  order for Frans and post them on to him?   Frans  could order the plants  in advance ....  the  shows Aberconwy are attending this year are listed  here : http://www.srgc.net/forum/index.php?topic=15644.msg387748#msg387748

There are probably hundreds of people on the European mainland and the rest of the world who would very much like to shop there. I'd pay a multiple price for some plants. But unfortunately I have no private contacts to the UK either.

Every time I see the list, I could despair.

Best regards...a concerned person. 😊

Frans i don't where you like in the nederlands but here's what i did at least 3 times.
I search on low cost airline website the week-end where rates are the lowest, usually you can fly to Manchester (2h from Aberconwy) for 20€ a return trip the same day (Schipol).
I bring an old empty trolley with inside buble plastic, rolls of big tape and zip bags. Once i bought my plants, i remove the soil and pots in front of the airport (yes trust me people look at me, funny) and throw pots in trash can. The substrat on the ground.
I put the plant with label inside zip bags, put all the plants inside the bubbles plastic and voilà :)

I combined orders with 2 friends, so dividing the cost of flight and car parking is very interesting.

If you count flight + parking it surely will cost you less than forwarding plants from UK.
The only constraint is that you can't predict when you'll get your plants and need to often check airlines website, otherwise it's the cheapest method i've found.

I know english peoples doing the same for bringing plants from...nederlands, ahaha  ;D

Or you can drive the short distance to Kent when there is an AGS show and collect from there as they usually attend. Yann will know this!

Thans you for you answer.
The most nursery's send plants to the Netherlands  between £ 6 and 8. I think that sending for de uk by mail the cheapest and easiest way.

Yes Ralph, Kent is not far but going to Aberconwy by road is quite long.
A shame i was absent (again!) for the show...
It depends on the time you've to spend abroad, with board controls it now takes more time than plane,
i can't imagine when brexit will be applied.
Anyway the best is indeed going to a show, talk with friends and bring back goodies.

NL forwarder are the cheapest with german ones, you can't compare with uk mail forwarders, it's a bit more complex.

Aberconwy  has a website now -  http://www.aberconwynursery.co.uk/  - though still not doing mail order.
Not to worry,  Tim Lever has just given me a heads up, that they've  just published their Autumn Supplement and its available on the  website if people want to order for the autumn shows!

Thanks, Tim, that sounds good to me!

It is as always quite a torture for us mainland inhabitants...if you look at the offer in the current catalogue.

I wish all those lucky enough to shop there lots of fun... I envy you.  😭

Aberconwy nursery- RHS Award VMM for Rachel Lever
« Reply #12 on: April 09, 2019, 10:22:50 AM »
Exciting  News  from Aberconwy -

"We are delighted to announce that Rachel Lever has been awarded a Veitch Memorial Medal by the Royal Horticultural Society. The medal is awarded to people who have made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of the science and practice of horticulture. Rachel is honoured to be recognized in this way and as she and Keith always did things together at Aberconwy Nursery she feels that the award also reflects the regard in which Keith's work was held."

Wonderful recognition for Rachel Lever and for Aberconwy - and a chance to reflect on all the great work Rachel and the late Keith have done with alpine plants.
So well deserved - many  congratulations  to  Rachel!
