SRGC 2020 AGM
« on: December 16, 2020, 04:55:09 PM »
The SRGC Annual General Meeting was originally due to take place in November 2020.  However, in view of government restrictions arising from the Covid-19 pandemic, it was postponed to take place at the Early Bulb Day at Dunblane on Saturday 20 February 2021.

It is now becoming more likely that there may still be restrictions on travel and gatherings in February.  The latest details will be given in the January Dryas which is planned to be posted out to all members in late January 2021.  However, plans may still need to be changed, possibly at very short notice.  This may include a decision to hold the AGM online, and changes in the voting arrangements.

If details change, then further information will be given here in this thread.

Hi Fermi,

Our Zoom licence would allow up to 100 screens to attend per event, which is considerably more than the 70-ish who have attended our online talks to date.

I would be surprised if there was any huge rush to attend the AGM - if it were online.  For instance all voting would have to take place in advance by post or email, and no speakers would talk on botanical subjects as at previous AGMs.

It is confirmed that, due to Government restrictions and the need to avoid unnecessary travel, unfortunately all SRGC 2021 Spring Shows have been cancelled.

The delayed 2020 AGM will take place online using Zoom at 10.00am GMT on Saturday 20 February 2021, the same date as previously announced in the July 2020 Dryas newsletter.  The Zoom meeting link will be given in this thread in due course.

Full AGM details will be provided in the Dryas newsletter which is expected to be mailed out to all postal members in the next week or so.  Sadly, printing has been delayed due to the bankruptcy of our printers over Christmas.  Therefore, to enable the fullest member participation in the AGM, further details and documents will also be supplied in this thread in due course.

Thanks to everyone who attended the first SRGC online AGM which was a success.  We also had a lively and interesting social event afterwards which went on for over an hour.  It was lovely to catch up and chat with everyone.
I attach a screen-grab of some of the assembled attendees.  Please forgive us for our unkempt hair and strange expressions as this photo was not staged!

The AGM on Zoom was indeed a great success with the business part being efficiently presented and resolved although the noticeable issue was that there is still a need for volunteers to take on some of the valuable rolls in the Club such as Subscription Secretary and President Elect- please consider joining the SRGC team.

Just like previous AGMs where we all have a good bleather the Zoom version was no different and as Richard states most of us stuck around for the chat.

Thanks to Stan for providing the plants for this years AGM the only thing missing was the cake!

What a difference  a few days  and some  sun makes. Some of the pots of Iris not fully open on Saturday now are. I see  my label on Katharine's Gold is wrongly  spelled- apologies to any Katharines viewing this post.
