Flowers and Foliage Now / Re: Paeonia 2025« Last post by Gail on June 10, 2025, 06:56:34 PM »Last two flowers on 'White Innocence' now but it has done well this year and is a good riposte for those who complain that peonies don't last long. Paeonia lactiflora 'Madame Gaudichau' is a joy for months with the wonderful bronze-red shoots and foliage then flowers now - they have a rich tea-rose fragrance and are popular with bumble bees.

Plant Identification Questions and Answers / Re: HELP!« Last post by Vinny 123 on June 09, 2025, 11:52:23 AM »just checking online, supposedly A. p. is native to eastern RSA, which would make it a summer-grower............ which online suggests is the case.
I have three potfuls here that do fine as winter-growers. When yours flowers, if you want to try getting seed (some sources suggest that it is not self-fertile), it is moderately complicated due to flower shape - it is designed for an insect to pry apart the central "cone" of the flower - details can be found online by searching "albuca fertilisation/pollination". 78

Flowers and Foliage Now / June 2025 in the Southern Hemisphere« Last post by fermi de Sousa on June 09, 2025, 04:25:14 AM »This is definitely winter now!
We've had frosts and finally some rain. Parts of southern Australia have been experiencing drought while the north has been having floods! This is certainly a land of contrasts. Here is the main offering to start this thread - Narcissus 'First Stanza' raised by Lawrence Trevanion in Canberra from a crossing of Narcissus elegans var fallax with Narcssus 'Soleil d'Or'. Pics taken a few days apart - the second two after an attack by critters - possibly parrots. cheers fermi 80
