I am looking for other growers of Petrocosmea, this is P. minor. Petrocosmea seem rather hard to buy and would like to swap species with other growers. I have just acquired two very poorly looking plants from Harrogate flower show and I am overcome by their beauty.
-
Thought I would add a picture of Petrocosmea forrestii :)
-
Just one more, Petrocosmea martinii
-
Hi kp, I've joined your three posts together in one thread - I'm feeling neat today!
-
Thank you, you will see i am VERY new here and I am grateful of any help, Thank you

Hello Frits
I know there are some gesneriad enthousiast on this forum, andi am one of them ;)
I ,m growing all kinds of generiads ,hardy /and some tropicals. I recently started with petrocosmea, but allready have some nice species and hybrids.
-
If your interested in swapping cuttings please let me know, i will be very interested in swaps
-
last week I posted three Petrocosmea species that were flowering for me. Over the weekend this Petrocosmea sericea started to flower, gorgeous blue and very beautiful. Since we have had our first frost on Saturday it is time to protect my lovely Gesneriads.
-
Not a Petrocosmea but this Gesneriad flowered for me today. This is Primulina tamiana from Vietnam was called Chirita. Hope you like.
-
Indeed we (I) certainly DO like. :)
-
I like those small ones ;)
for me it is the easyest of that genus, from cutting or seeds, you will have them for lifetime.I had many hundreds of them, and tried them outdoors.
It can take temp. near freezing point.

My Petrocosmea rosettifolia flowering away this week
-
Update:
Seed is now setting and hoping to sow fresh seed in spring.
We had -5c last night and I moved all the plants indoors with heating 7-10c
-
I have a few.
Petrocosmea grandiflora.
Petrocosmea minor
Petrocosmea begonifolia
-
Michael those are very nice I am still looking for P. begonifolia but I grow the others. Where do you have them while its cold? have you seen how the American growers, grow them in cellars with lighting. Lack of garden space and greenhouses I suppose.
-
I have some spare Begonifolia you can have. I keep them in a cold greenhouse just above freezing, the heater is set at 2c
-
That is very kind, I think or hope Tim Lever is going to have a few next spring, I will see if he is saving me one, a leaf would be kind enough Michael.
-
Yes Tim has some nice ones, I got most of mine form him.
-
More Petrocosmeas, it is a pity, that I don't have more frost-free space for
these plants. Thanks again to a generous forumist which gave me fine
material of this genus.
Petrocosmea rosettifolia
Petrocosmea minor
Petrocosmea kerrii v. crinita
-
Three stunning plants ruweiss. I grow Petrocosmea kerrii and it is much larger that the variety you are showing, P.var. crinita, I prefer your compact plant.
-
Thanks to some very kind friends I have now quite a collection of Petrocosmea cuttings.
But as with any other addiction, one always wants more.
I can offer small leaves of:
P. 'Shortin Bread'
P. rosettifolia
P. forrestii
P. 'Rosemary Platz'
I am interested in both species or hybrids other than: grandiflora, minor, sericea, begoniifolia, aff. iodioides ex aberconwy.

Hi Razvan Chisu

My collection consist of P. begonifolia, P. formosa, P. forrestii, P.grandiflora, P. ioidoides, P. kerrii, P. aff. martinii, P. minor, P. cryptica (was P.rosettifolia) P. sericea, P. cavaleriei.
I love the P. Rosemary Plaz and P. Shortin Bread, I would love to swap cuttings of those two.
We will keep in touch and swap soon.
