Title: Bulb Log 41
Post by: Martinr on October 12, 2011, 06:57:21 PM
Is it just me......can't get the file to open, Adobe Acrobat comes back and tells me the file is damaged. Checked last week's and it still opens OK. Suspect some Gremlins have escaped from the zoo ???

May just be a connection problem, Martin.  Clear your cache and try again.

Maggie i forgot to say all the other flowers there are stunning,i now hate even the word virus,i thought Ian would have all ready noticed but i just needed conformation so i can spot it on my own crocus being i have only started growing them seriously three years ago.

Those are fantastic shots of the hoverfly. The detail of individual pollen grains is amazing.

Isn't 'Dream Dancer' an awesome crocus? 8)

It's a "k", Roma, honest!
It is unusual for the Lads not to pick up on one of my many mistakes...... must be the cold weather  :-\

I've just caught up with the last two bulb logs and was intrigued by the picture of the Muscari bulblets. They reminded me that I hadn't done anything yet with the seeds I gathered two months ago from Nerine flexuosa alba. I thought of sending them to one of the seed lists but they seem to make a root and then a bulblet almost as soon as they're ready to fall from the dying stems and I don't know how they'd travel in the dark for several days and then wait in store until distribution. Next year, if anyone wants to try these, let me know and I can send them early.

Note the 3 little bulbs on the right of the group.

Goodness me, they haven't wasted any time in getting going, have they?  Nice to know some plants are so keen  ;)
