Kirklands Garden Open in Fife, Scotland
« on: February 11, 2022, 03:36:54 PM »
From the Harts, about their garden .....

We are members of the Scottish Rock Garden Club and here are some details of our Garden:

We would like to introduce you to our Garden: Kirklands in Saline.  We have lived at Kirklands for over 40 years and gradually created a garden.  As any gardener will testify, this is an on-going project!  The next two generations have joined us more recently to carry on the process.

The garden is about 2 acres with 20 acres of naturally regenerating woodland by the side of Saline Burn.  There is a pathway through the woodland on the course of an old mill lade.  The garden is mostly on a slope which makes for interesting challenges.  We have a terraced south-facing walled garden with raised beds, herbaceous borders and a woodland garden.

Kirklands is probably best in the Spring with snowdrops, followed by bluebells, hellebores, meconopsis, Trilliums, Erythroniums, rhododendrons.  We are open several times a year; initially as part of Visit Scotland’s Snowdrop Festival on the last weekend in February 26/27 and the first week in March 5/6 from 2:00 to 4:30.  Garden entrance fee will include some snowdrop bulbs to plant.  There’s also a plant stall and tea/coffee and cakes are available.

We’re also open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 2:00 to 4:30 from April to end September.

On Sunday 22nd May the garden is open for charity under Scotland’s Garden Scheme where cream teas will be served.

We love to show groups around the garden at any pre-arranged date too.  Teas/coffees and cakes (baked by Louisa) can be arranged or light lunches.  We can accommodate larger groups arriving by coach.  Drop off is in the bus turning circle in the middle of the village with a short walk to the garden.  We’re happy to collect those who may require a lift.

Please have a look at our new website: Kirklands (kirklandsgarden.co.uk)   We also now accept contactless payment.

Thank you and Kind Regards

Peter and Gill Hart "
