Alan Meerow is the distinguished American botanist and author of many scientific papers who specializes in the taxonomy of the family Amaryllidaceae and the horticulture of palms and tropical ornamental plants.
He has received various honours for his work from august bodies, but now he has received a unique tribute. a new species of weevil has been named for him.
Rhopalotria meerowi is species of cycad (Zamia) pollinating Coleoptera from Jamaica.
