PC will sell you an ordinary Eranthis.

He sent me an ordinary one first but when I complained he replaced it without quibbling and the replacement is definitely correct.

Thanks for posting on my enquiry

Paul Christian say's the following on his website:

A PS:- We have now observed that this stock can throw some single flowers. If this happens (it does not always) then it happens after transplanting, when in an unsuitable spot, or when stressed. If left undisturbed the plants throw double again next year. We have rogued the stock of all singles (only to have these singles revert to doubles again) but if it distresses you, then you can return the plants to us. However keeping them and letting them settle will usually cure the problem. We have noticed that when it is having a 'single' period, this double form sets fertile seed.

I agree with you Ulla, our stock originated from Denmark some 25 years ago; we have increased from division & seed but never saw a 'single' flower. I think there is a similar (but not identical) clone called 'Noel Ayres' which i believe does not set seed (??). Perhaps now there is a third clone that sometimes reverts to single flowers?? I don't want it.
