I've not come across 'Down and Out' before.  Not the greatest of names, perhaps?
Almost in Scotland.

Joe 'Mr Snowdrop' Sharman features in an article in the January edition of 'The Garden' (a magazine sent to RHS members).  Not to be confused with the article on John 'The Snowdrop Man' Morley in the January edition of 'The English Garden'.
Almost in Scotland.

Lost label - can anyone suggest a name please
Do you think it might be Sickle. It looks right and might be flowering early this year

This was suggested by several people based on the first photo I showed.

I have now taken another photo that clearly shows the inner mark - what do you think now?

It matches the description in 'Snowdrops' with the strongly arched spathe and a mark like a pair of skittles side by side it could well be. The plant I have in our garden isn't in flower yet but I guess it might be earlier with you.

'Castlegar'  is certainly one of the finest Irish drops., I'm sure. Paddy Tobin has always spoken highly of it.  I don't grow any of these Irish  galanthus so I can only go by the photos I've seen. I don't think I've ever seen it  in real life.

Of course, it is the very best, Maggi!!!

Galanthus 'Three Ships' is in full flower here at present. There have been comments on the mild weather and for us it has been both mild and frightfully wet with the result that slugs and snails abound so damage to snowdrops has been commonplace this season.

Galanthus 'Colossus' in the garden and as a posy on the windowsill where most of the snowdrops have been enjoyed so far this year as the weather has been atrocious

My first post ever, so hope this works!
Lots of drops in bud here in Hertfordshire and usually I'm lucky if Mrs McNamara makes it by Christmas and as you can see from picks everything is in the garden.
Sutton Courtenay, one of my favourites, open any day now and, appropriately for this, week Ding Dong

Hello Daisy -  well done  with a successful first post complete with pix! Funny old year, isn't it - no spring drops showing here in Aberdeen though.
