When Rod & Rachel Saunders were alive, Silverhill Seeds used to offer Geosiris and Radinosiphon in their bulb seed offerings. Does anyone know of anyone offering those seeds now?
-
I didn't know that Silverhill seeds no longer offered those seeds via https://silverhillseeds.co.za/ - have you tried asking them - just in case? !
-
They haven't been in the online catalog since the Saunders were killed.
-
Try Lifestyle Seeds - their online catalogue lists everything that they have ever stocked and is updated as and when new items arrive.
They sell bulbs/plants as well as seed.
-
Update -
Geosiris - https://www.pacificbulbsociety.org/pbswiki/index.php/Geosiris. They would presumably be almost impossible to grow. It is strange that Silverhill ever offered seed.

R. l. bulbs are also sold by the SA Bulb Co.

Vinny123.
I grew Geosiris when I lived in San Francisco. It is fairly easy. it is cultured much like mushrooms.
-
Presumably the Geosiris seed was produced in RSA?
There are (or were) a small number of people around the world that specialise in Madagascan seeds, so that may be worth a hunt, especially in Germany.
The only person that I have any knowledge of at all in the German horticulture trades as Atomic Plants - Norbert Kleinmichel - maybe drop him a message? It is a while since I checked his website, but from memory, he does sell Madagascan species, but ones that could easily be 20 generations from import as seed or plants.
Radinosiphon has had a multitude of names over the years, so they may be worth a search - I did some and found some more mentions, but nothing of use in getting seeds.
-
Vinny,
Thank you!
-
If bulbs of Radinosiphon would be OK, shipped from the UK, I have an order with SABC in process, but getting them to the UK would ROUGHLY double their price in RSA (around $2.50 - 3.00 each landed UK).
If you need no phyto', just carriage from the UK, let me know - drop me a message.
-
Vinny,
To do it legally I would need a phyto. I have a permit for live materials that would cover the bulbs but a phyto is required.
-
There would be a phyto' to get thm into the UK, but I very much doubt that that would suffice.
-
If you could tell me the name of the South African supplier I could buy directly. A South African phyto is only $15.
-
Very, very late - apologies @MarcR - supplier as above - SA Bulb Co.
No list online, drop Leigh an email.
Most suppliers in RSA charge $20-30 for a phyto'.

Vinny 123,
Thank you again for your help!
