I was very pleased to see you first blog of 2013 Ian!
What a difference in plant growth from one year to the next.
Hopefully I'll have some snowdrop photos to upload next week if they have advanced enough..........

Heard today on the radio that some parts of the UK are promised ( or is that 'threatened'?
) with temperatures into double figures, supposedly 13 to 14 degrees, next week.
If you get that, Mike, your snowdrops may well open up.

According to this evenings weather forecast on the 6.00PM News 13C for Aberdeen tomorrow. What's it like living on The Riviera Maggi?

We'll let you know- if it actually happens, David
It has been mild today - if damp.

I'll reverse it. It's been damp today here-if mild, as it was yesterday, hasn't stopped drizzling all day

we've been warm over here since Sunday. 10C+ every day. Snowdrops open at night, first Eranthis open waiting bees, Hacquetia epipactis Thor has flowers, primroses have new growth ...

I am always going to be interested to read what's happening in Aberdeen. In sharing your experiences, the ups and the down, you give succour to the reader, even if it's only to make him feel that he's not alone in the struggle
Despite my relative 'southern-ness' the season here is very like yours although your first garden snowdrop is ahead of mine!

Nice to see an update on the Frit davidii seedlings. Mine are growing on strongly. The seed parents went right back last year - a combination of old compacted compost in the pot and extremely wet weather I think. They will need building up again before get flowers. The Wrights have given me some offsets from the pollen parent so I hope to have another go at getting seed in a year or two.

It's mild but very dull here in Somerset Maggi, but I keep my fingers crossed I'll have g.'Godfrey Owen' in all his glory to photograph.
