I wonder what's happening on this end?  When I try to download the Bulblog pdf file in Windows a message comes up saying "damaged file" and quits downloading after only an inch or so of the log is viewable. At home on the Mac there's no problem.  I need the read the Bulb Log at work! ;)

Enjoying it immensely as usual.

Ian's just been on the phone.. he's having a great time in England, being well looked after and shown nice gardens.

Shelagh, believe me, we think all the time about packing our bags and going to camp out with some of the Forumists who grow and flower sternbergias so well.

John: probably a browser issue: Sometimes happens for little apparant reason. Try closing the browser down and starting again.  I had the same problem this afternood trying to load a pdf from another site.

I promise one day i will be up Angie, what i didn't expect is to to learn anything(as it was just a garden visit) and was holding off with questions in case Ian thought just read a book  Dave, but to my amazement i was like a sponge. Ian explains something to you in a fantastic way(the bulb and compressed stem and twinscaling),i would have personally missed it in a book(it would go right over my head)i found myself thinking wow,why can't everybody explain like that.
Maggie i was so tempted to take some chilli seedlings along but didn't fancy a chocolate fine ;D

Davey we all in our Aberdeen Club think we have the best. No matter how many times we hear Ian talk he never disappoints us. Ian just has a way of getting you so involved. One thing I have noticed is that there is never a person having forty winks when Ian gives a talk.
But please remember behind every man there is a brilliant woman  ;D

Davey lets hope you and others come up to Aberdeen someday.

Angie  :)

Beautiful Crocus tommasinianus seedling Ian.

It looks like a self sown seedling?

Lovely daffs - Ian has some superb N. cantabricus forms. Eranthis Pauline seems to be a 'cooler' shade of yellow than 'Schwefelganz', or is it just the age of the flower (or imagination)?

We've squinted at those Eranthis every which way, Anne.... not seeing a lot of difference. If there is it is only the tiniest colour change.

I agree 100%. :)
I was just thinking about seed sowing mix and here it was explained so well. Thank you.
PS. I also like very much the posts with larger images of your garden, they are an inspiration.

Fantastic job you've done Ian, i'm often plunging back old logs and re-reading articles.
The index associated to the logs produce a gold mine of informations.

Just a big thank you for your work and your knowledge sharing.

For all those who follow the horticultural adventures of Ian and download the pdf log, i suggest using an open source tool called  CALIBRE.
It allows you to manage tons of pdf, ebooks, etc. the search engine use file's name, metadata which can be edited, autor, etc.
It's really a powerfull software and it's free!
