Erythronium dens canis 'Ascreavie'
« on: February 25, 2012, 09:29:48 PM »
Does anyone know who supplies this?. I think - though I'm not sure - that it was selected by Ian Christie but it did not appear on his website last time I looked. It seems to be a very dark form.

Thanks Maggi. It was that photo by Ian that provoked my interest in the first place, though I had forgotten where I saw it. Was the plant found at Ascreavie house I wonder? I've just looked it up & discovered it  holds collections by George Sherriff. Interesting.

I think it must have been, Gerry.
Yes, George Sherriff and his wife Betty lived at Ascreavie and made lovely gardens there. I believe Ian Christie was lucky enough to know them and the gardens.  G. S. died in around 1966or 1967, I think.
