Bought from Peninsula Primulas (primulaexpert on ebay) twice before. They very very good. Arrived quickly, plants are bareroot looked very healthy. Plants flowered nonstop through spring. One to add to the good list.

I've bought loads via eBay and have only had problems on a couple of occasions - no worse than through any other means. Moreover, with Paypal you can get a refund easily enough. It's important to read the descriptions carefully though, and buy only from sellers that have good feedback. Just bought three snowdrops tonight as it happens, so hopefully these will be fine as well!

I did once buy 30 Galanthus sold as 'Magnet' from a lady who was selling them for £4.99 or something. I didn't really believe they would be Magnet but thought I would take a punt. Turned out they were straight nivalis. I'm afraid I don't know her id, this was 4-5 years ago. Moral: if it looks too good to be true, it probably is! Otherwise have bought 20+ snowdrops over the years and not had a single problem.

I assume that HMRC won't treat income accrued from ebay sales as unearned income?
I don't know about "unearned" but see http://www.ebay.co.uk/gds/When-does-eBay-selling-become-taxable-/10000000004494855/g.html for guidance on the UK tax treatment of eBay sales.  I would have thought that anyone who regularly sells snowdrops on eBay should expect to be treated as if they were a business and taxed on their profits.  But if you are a hobbyist and use any income from eBay sales to buy more snowdrops then there are no profits.
Almost in Scotland.

Re Arthur's comments about gata444's P & P charges, might it be because posting involves quite a trek - we've only a 5 mile round trip to a Post Office but friends in a Leicestershire village have 14 miles to go each time; it does add to the cost.

I see 'Trumpdy Dumpty' (which could be 'Trumps' in an over-exposed picture as far as I can tell) is up to £56 on eBay.  Some of the people all of the time?  Good name, though.
Almost in Scotland.

I have bought from wheelieneily and the plants are correct and very good plants so I am deffo vouching for them - there are some great sellers on ebay

New sellers that dont ring a bell with me are
Paulramonda - currently listing Cliff Curtis
tinykitty24 - listing Green Arrow

Maggi, Ralph and Lewis I can vouch for wheelieneily, I bought a galanthus three ships plant off him the week and it arrived the other day. It arrived well wrapped and in a cardboard tube and was a good size plant. I would definitely order from him again.

HMRC have taken quite an interest in the last year or so on sellers on Ebay as they do not in a lot of cases realise that they have to declare their income - they look at what that person is selling and then decide on whether they would deem it fair for the trader to be classed as a business - eg if a username sold 100 different snowdrops they would class this as a business but if that same seller sold 10 snowdrops, a table and chairs, a tv, general bits n pieces they would not bother

I assume that HMRC won't treat income accrued from ebay sales as unearned income?
