Hexham early show this year was held under SRGC rules- so a Forrest Medal was on the cards for the most meritorious plant in the Show.
And it was won by this superb Viola brevistipulata Hidakana grown by "Kidders" - Ian Kidman. Well done!!

Another of the fine viola which also received an award from the joint rock committee. Another superb 6 pan entry in class 1 f rom Frank & Barbara Hoyle won the AGS medal for large pots while certificates of merit went to their Cassiope lycopodioides and Pulsatilla ambigua. These two were not in their winning six at the Kendal show last Saturday - four other plants were. Robert Rolfe took the Sandhoe trophy for best plant in a 19cm pot wth Saxifraga Ben Loyal. Raymond Hurd won The Gordon Harrison cup for the Intermediate section and an SRGC bronze medal.

Don Peace had most 1st points in the open section so won the RB Cooke plate. He also had a certificate of merit for Fritillaria pinardii and the Roger Smith cup for 6 plants =all frits -grown from seed. Apologies for the dreadful photo of these fine plants. Another of his frits received a joint rock award. Two plants that won merit certificates at Kendal did the same today : Peter Hood's Corydalis sewerzowii and Brian Burrows' Hyacinthoides reverchonii. More snaps tomorrow

A walk round the benches starting with class 1 large pots. The glorious sunshine which everyone enjoyed outside created some problems for my little camera inside

Hexham is one of the Joint shows with the AGS that I have been to a few times and my impression was it was one of the most colourful where benches were crammed with plants large and small and that seems to be the case again this year.
Thank you once more to Stan for sharing this experience with us in the Forum - I know it is appreciated by many at home and abroad who cannot attend.
-
I thought I would add pictures of plants that caught my eye, Stan has done a wonderful job of total coverage of the show to give viewers a feel for the show, was a lovely show on a lovely sunny day, plenty people through the door.
I have not added class number or people i/d to my posts so just plants

Well that completes my pictures from the show and I will close by saying thank you to Angus Thompson for all his hard work in getting the show ready for all our entries yesterday, time consuming and demanding so Thank You Angus.
-
My word, what a terrific set of photos to "bring" the show to our screens!! Many thanks, Stan and George - you've done a great job!

Too right! And this one looks to be of the usual very high standard!!
