Rob,
I have one flowering at the moment. I have attached 2 pictures but they are not great as the light was fading when I took the photos on Sunday afternoon.

I'm getting confused... again..... how many 'drops are we speaking about here?
'Daglingworth Kasaba’ ......'Daglingworth' .... 'Casaba' ??????? HELP!!! :-\
-
well according to the book there isnt a 'Daglingworth Cassaba' (s). There is a gracilis 'Cassaba'. My mistake in naming the photo. There is an elwesii 'Cassaba' and 'Cassaba Boydii'. I think there may be a 'Spetchly Cassaba'
-
I like both the three of them. I see another nice snowie went for over a ton (albeit for two lots of three): Finchale Abbey, which looks very nice. I want it too. :P Palepink127 at again ( £122.11), and another guy called Grumpysteve_123 paid £115.49 for the other trio.
-
Well, David thinks he's GOT 'Daglingworth Kasaba’ and very nice it is too for a non-existant 'drop!
-
Ivycroft Plants have 'Daglingworth Kasaba' on their 2008 snowdrop list.

That's where my plant came from earlier this year.

There is a gracilis 'Cassaba'..... There is an elwesii 'Cassaba' and 'Cassaba Boydii'.
If I can clarify what Mark has said - what the 'Snowdrops' book says is that
- there was a snowdrop circulating as g. 'Cassaba' ex Dorothy Lucking, which has now been named g. gracilis 'Dorothy Lucking'
- there was a snowdrop which was originally erroneously identified as g. elwesii 'Cassaba', but which has now been correctly named g. gracilis 'Yamanlar'
- there was a snowdrop named g. elwesii 'Cassaba Boydii' but this is now believed to be extinct and is included on the list of 'Extinct Galanthus Cultivars'
In view of the confusion arising from the past use of the name 'Cassaba', the 'Snowdrops' book recommends "The name 'Cassaba' is therefore best abandoned" and I think that this guidance should be followed.

Just to clarify (for anybody else that was puzzled):
"From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cassaba is:
an alternate spelling of the town of Kasaba, located in Turkey
an alternate spelling of casaba, a fruit"
Presumably the snowdrop names pertain to the town in Turkey rather than the fruit.

Yes Alan, this ties in with the original use of the name 'Casaba' - Edward Whittall, whilst based in a Turkey in the 19th century, sent out plant collectors, one of whom found a form of g. elwesii near to the town of Casaba which later, erroneously, became known as g. elwesii 'Casaba'
