Title: Hepatica Nobilis color forms other than blue
Post by: MarcR on April 01, 2022, 03:23:53 AM
I became fascinated by these while reading the Hepatica Topic.
Iasked on the Hepatica 2022 thread where these can be found [for purchase] and was ignored!

Perhaps someone will tell me who exports them or who sells seed.

The people on the thread don't seem interested in cultivating new interest!!

Marc, I have indeed seen your question. But I understood that you wanted places in the wild where you can see different colors. For seeds it is to soon in a lot of countries the flowers need still to come. You have to be patient and wait after the seed setting.

Some websites were you should look later on:

Marc, I did not understand your question in this way, too. You are very welcome to get some seed of some of my nobilis with a good chance for a wide range of colours. Just send me a PM.

Thank you both for your kind responses.

I can see where I left room for misunderstanding.

Far Reaches Farm sells many shades of Hepatica nobilis (and a couple of nice leaf forms). Also, they sell other Hepatica species.

FRESH seed - still just green, generally germinates freely.
I have had Ashwood seed in the past and it was very good.

I should have mentioned - Ashwood ship(ped) seed the moment that it shakes free of the receptacle - just barely green.
When I bought seed from them, you paid up-front and they shipped as soon as available.

I checked out the sources listed by Herman and the bad news for Mark and me is that nobody, but nobody, seems to ship seed to the US.  Even the Canadian sources won't ship to us.  I know there is a potential Japanese source but she doesn't have seed or plants listed right now.  It's getting very frustrating to be a plant lover in the US.

Welcome to our world, Jan!
Australia is making it harder and harder to even import seed - only well funded companies can afford to import live plants
cheers
