Bulb log 47
« on: November 26, 2012, 12:35:55 PM »
Ian,
Through your excellent pics and your very positive attitude in your text you give us the very best of autumn!

It has been a dreadful weather here lately, dark sky, rain and windy. It is too cold and wet for outdoor working. Even if my autumn flowers survives the strong wind they will not open due to the low temperature and lack of sunshine. It is all very depressing and I was in a bad mood, when I started reading the bulb log. But in short time my mood changed to the better, by looking at all these nice flowers and beautiful autumn colours in bulb log 47.

You have a very positive way of looking at the inevitable failures/problems ones experience when growing bulbs. I think we all can learn from that. A good example is your Sternbergias. You have had great trouble getting them to flower, not to mention the loss of bulbs you had some years ago. But instead of giving up you carry on, seeing the failures as a learning process, try new ways to grow them a finally you get success! That is admirable!

Many times when the weather is so bad that I did not want to go in the garden, I turn on my computer and read the old bulblogs. After a few logs I have been inspired in some way and I suddenly must go out to check my own plants and see how they are compared to yours or to do some of the task that you have shown in the bulblog. Then I forget about the weather and go on with the gardening!

To make a long story short: You give us so much inspiration and so much pleasure with your bulblogs and with this I hope I can give you a little back by thanking you for the great (and hard) work you do with the bulb log.

I look forward to the new bulb log!

Poul

Poul

Thank you so much for your kind words of support and encouragement

If I was feeling down with the lack of sunlight and flowers, despairing of having to write another Bulb Log such encouragement as yours lifts my spirit completely and is exactly what drivers me to continue sharing my experiences, successes and failures with you all.

The fact that what I started as a one year project all those years ago has become so popular world wide is a very humbling experience for me and I thank you all.
