Aconitum Red Wine Picture?
« on: October 23, 2007, 01:56:42 PM »
Another request for a picture, please....although I seem to be striking out with most of my questions or special requests recently...

There must be someone who has photographed this lovely beast to death?

If you have, may I beg a good close-up for use in an American magazine...with credits of course?

Magnar Aspaker, one of our forumnists has generously provided me with a lovely picture---and I post it for the benefit of everyone here.

By the way, this plant is in the trade under "helmslyanum" and other species names....which I do not believe to be the case. I think it is accepted to be a natural hybrid (parentage unknown or uncertain). It comes true from seed.

Hi

I saw this message a bit late, but I guess Magnar gave you nice pictures of this Aconitum. It is a striking color in my garden in late summer/autumn. I add some pictures of this plant as well.

I have a few spare seeds if someone would like to try it.

I'm just a perfect newcomer, you might find it's abuse, but...so would I!!!! Pleaaase!
I looove aconitums, and they seem to like my clayish soil too...
Aconitum hemsleyanum (the "true" one, I hope, it has light lavender, grayish small flowers), though, is a poor performer here...
My greatest pleasure this fall, has been with my new aconitum japonicum 'napiforme', a pure delight, both for foliage and flowers !
