As far as I remember Malathion is a contact insecticide not a systemic one so a light spray is not enough.You must cover all the surface of all the leaves specially the underside.With a systemic one you poison the sap of the plant so each time the bug feeds it ingest the insecticide and a more patchy spray doesn't affect the result as long as two third of the plant are covered.

John I thought after I did it I might not have sprayed the plants enough. I only had a little hand spray but went and bought a BIG sprayer and some new chemical. Just need a dry evening to do this, tomorrow is meant to be rainy and really windy (gusts of seventy miles) so the minute I get the chance I will be out with my BIG sprayer ;D
