I agree the Oregon and California are more adaptable and easier to grow; but, Japonica is, in my opinion, more rewarding.

I am in USDA zone 8b where temperatures almost never fall below 15F -9.4C.  Rainfall 50" 110 cm + but none  June-September.  We seldom get snow; but when it comes we get 30" overnight. Soil is sandy loam with a lot of humus.

Same seedling from above, better pictures. Have another seedling that opened today, that has darker center. Will post later.

"Never have seen this color variant in Yellow Trout Lily with the two-toned reddish and yellow tepals. Saw several in one small area growing around a large tree and nowhere else.

Interesting looking Erythronium americanum.

Was looking for pictures of erythronium oregonum x hendersonii. The clump forming of oregonum, and multi flowers per flower stalk of hendersonii would be amazing, combined.

Not as striking as my seedlings are, if mine are oregonum x hendersonii. Mine haven't clumped up, maybe they won't....Mine do set seed, and pollen is good.
