Brilliant. I've watching and reading. I'm hopeless at crosswords so had no chance with the clues. I did get me of course

Thank you for my award, I'm very humble. It's a long time since I said that ;D

Well done to all the prize winners and I think Tony well deserves the top gong.
I was really impressed by Tonys' observation; what really did it for me was his recognition of Carol's high cheek bones.
No wonder he is so good(e) on plant features.

Thanks Maggi and Ian for such a wonderful way to start the new year. It's been great fun. Congratulations to all the prize winners - even Dave - for their sustained efforts.

I've actually learned something here. Even though all his posts are ended with "John," for some reason (OK so I'm getting on a bit) I was convinced his named was actually Kent Gardener. So sorry John.

Hi Lesley

you are not the only one - Kent Gardener is just my 'SRGC 00 Special Agent' name (the name arose on Yahoo groups because I live in Kent and garden at every opportunity - it was only later that my brother pointed out the name was rather 'James Bond' like).

In just the last month I have received emails addressed to 'Kent Gardener, 'John Gardener', 'John Finch' and even 'Geoff' (!) - I am still waiting to be called 'Kent Finch' - but I will answer to just about anything.

cheers

John

John

John passed away in 2017 - his posts remain here in tribute to his friendship and contribution to the forum.

In Scotland, we refer to someone well-known as "weel-kent", so a familiar person is "a weel-kent face", so John has become, in our household, "weel Kent Gardener".

Wow, I'm so impressed with you guys for sorting out the who's who! I gave up very rapidly. Like David I'm really impressed that Tony recognised me because of my high cheek bones!

As I'm coming up to Glasgow in October I can check out those cheekbones for real  ...  if you'll forgive my cheek ;)

It was fun, thanks to Maggi for refereeing the event (and Ian for covering when M retired hurt.)  BTW - If you weren't all so good-looking I'd never have figured it out!

I came across this thread and just HAD to bring it to the fore so that other could enjoy it.  I'm probably going to get killed for this!!  :-*

And you guys wonder why I have a picture of my dog for my avatar instead of me??   ::)

I don't think I'll ever think of you guys the same again.... particularly you Cliff!!  ;D  :o
Cheers.
