A message from the Bulb Despot......
[attach=1]
.....he must be.......
The Bulb Log has completed six years online.
All previous Logs are archived on site and may be consulted at any time.
A new INDEX to ALL BULB LOGS 2003 to 2008 INCLUSIVE is also available online or as a printable document ......links from the Bulb Log page.... http://www.srgc.org.uk/logs/index.php?log=bulb
Sincere and most grateful thanks to Len Rhind for his efforts to produce the index!
The Bulb Despot has decided to get a head start on this year's logs so the first issue of 2009 is online NOW.

For a New Year, there is a New Format..... the Bulb Log will now be presented in PDF form.... this will make it easier to download in entirety to read offline, save and/or print out, as we know many of you like to do.
Thanks, as ever, to Fred, without whom none of this would be possible!
There is a link on the Bulb Log page to download the latest edition of Adobe Acrobat Reader, which we recommend, to enable you to fully enjoy the pdf Bulb Log.
Happy New Year!

New format is brilliant plus (the old format was brilliant - the plus has been specially created for the new one). The pics confirm my 'Camoro' as true to the pics. ;D It only seems like yesterday I was reading post 52 of 2008 (it may well have been yesterday). Time always flies when one is on holiday. :(

It'll take a bit of getting used to, but it looks great, Ian.
And might your mystery bulbs be something in the dicentra line?
cheers
fermi

Exactly what I thought. D. cuccularia maybe?
-
Ian great new format and once again very informative and interesting. Thank you.
As to your mystery plant I can't cheat at the present because we have an inch of snow outside but it does look very familiar. I agree it does look a bit dicentra looking but is it Corydalis Craigton Blue by any chance or cashmeriana?
-
I like the new format a lot, information as good as ever.
-
Delighted with the new format Ian ! :D
Won't talk about the contents - that hasn't changed... still is most interesting !
-
Very good format, Ian. Better than ever (I didn't think that was even possible)

Thank you for taking us into another year Ian,Very informative well done.

Ian is down in Dundee tonight, giving his "Bulb Log Live" talk but I know he would wish me to thank you for your kind comments. Great to hear you like the look of the new set up.

I too like the new BL format very much. It's more like reading a good garden book rather than just a listed catalogue, no matter how well illustrated it may be.
Could the mystery bulb be Corydalis cashmiriana?

And also the "garnishing" with that nice colorful picture is so good. :)

Ian,
I am very happy with the new format. :)
I have a 24 inch' screen and the picture are now absolutely great.
Thank you
Franz

That's a monster compared to my 15" monitor
-
Franz, that is excellent news that you are seeing the photos well on your large screen. Ian hoped that it would be so, but we could not be sure! Thank you!
-
Good to have the Bulb log back (I'm just downloading it at the moment), I was beginning to get withdrawal symptoms last week ;).
-
Just to say the new format is clear and the pictures are a good size,
thank you (all) for the time and effort that you put in. :)

Thank you for all your comments.
It is always worrying when we make such a change but all the comments I have had have been positive.
I do hope that you will continue to enjoy the advantages of the PDF format.
It does take me longer, as Paul has also found out with the Wisley Log, to put it together but I think we will find that will speed up as we get used to this new form of layout.
The big advantages that I see are that you can scale it up or down to suit your screen and window and it will print out exactly as seen plus it is easy to down load to your hard drive to be viewed off line.
