Title: Narcissus September 2020
Post by: fermi de Sousa on September 04, 2020, 01:27:29 AM
September is "peak daffodil" in our area!
To start off here are a couple of "hoops" - the larger is 'Mitimoto' a 10W-Y from Glenbrook Bulb Farm in Tassie.
The smaller one is a late bloom on a "stray" which came up in another pot. An earlier flower was not as scalloped so this may just be a seasonal aberration!

Narcissus 'Tête Bouclé' is probably not everyone's cup of tea but I like its fluffy double flowers.
It's apparently a sport of 'Tête a Tête'

That's one that I've been trying to get for ages! Two attempts at seed have yielded nothing (but I'm not throwing out those pots!).
Here's one of my favourite tazettas, 'Matador'

At LAST - I finally get around to repotting my daffs. Been looking forward to this since May. I must say I'm a little put out to see they started without me!

Pots of all one cultivar are potted so that the bulbs just fit into the pot, starting with the biggest in the middle for the best display later.
[attach=2]
Pots with multiple clones are separated for ease of selection. I use pieces of cut-up plastic bottles for this (thank you neighbours for raiding your recycling bins)

Potting can be an art form!

The picture of the 2-year-old seedlings shows the 2 cohorts of sizes, suggestion a fresh set of germination in the second year - moral being don't disturb seed pots for at least 2 years.
