I expect most of us are aware of the exciting nursery, Crûg Farm Plants which is famous for the plant introductions by Sue and Bleddyn Wynn-Jones. Bleddyn Wynn-Jones' NEW talk is ready for a joint RHS event on the 13th Sept but it seems the Wynn-Jones are a tad disappointed by the lack of advertising by the RHS.
The special event will take place at the nursery on 13th September - details below:
RHS - Plant Collecting in The Sikkim Himalaya
Saturday 13th September 2014
Morning coffee and afternoon tea is included in the cost of the ticket. Please bring a packed lunch.
Time of event: 10.30am – 5pm
Cost: Members: £20.00, Non-members: £25.00
"There will be an illustrated talk on plant collecting covering our last expedition to Sikkim, Northern India in September - October of 2013. After lunch we shall walk through the grounds and growing areas to look at the plants we have collected.
Join Bleddyn and Sue in the wild mountains of northern India searching for their beloved plants. Feel the challenging conditions trekking through unbelievably bad weather, while life had to go on as the seed collections mounted. Living in the primitive conditions (and salubrious hotels) of the Himalaya. Was it all worth it … come and see.
There will be an hour break for lunch (remember to bring your packed lunch), with hopefully an opportunity to admire the panoramic views of Snowdonia and discuss what we have seen so far. In addition there will also be an opportunity to tour the gardens while discussing the merits of our collections."
