Yes the bulb house does produce many magical moments for us as does seeing in the forum pages all the wonderful plants that others are growing all around the world. With this outreach and connectivity of the forum I may be able to hand up my broom stick.
It is not mistletoe but a growth mutation that infects some growth buds causing this congested stunted growth. The growths do not seem to harm the tree and are very popular with the birds as ready made nesting platforms - some smaller birds create a nest inside the growths.
