Hi,

as far as I remember, I have never posted any pix of my orchids here. But since they are just flowering so beautifully now, I couldn't resist any more.......
So here they are: white Calopogon tuberosum (flowers about 4cm in diameter) and Dactylorhiza maculata with special coloring (white flowers retaining the pink marks with yellow pollinia, flowers quite large: around 2cm in diameter)

the calopogon is stunning,not one I have grown. The dactylorhiza is equally beautiful.

Hello Maren,

I am livinig in Vienna/Austria (USDA Zone 7b). Our weather has been quite hot in mid June, therefore the Calopogon is further developed than someone might expect. Currently I am selfing all my orchids, trying to preserve their characteristics. I hope it will work!

What medium are the Dactylorhiza growing in

The medium I use for my Dacties is a quite organic one. I try to simulate woodland-soil feeling. It is a mixture of decayed bark, wood-fiber, leaf-mould as well as coconut-fiber and 25% Perlite (for the purpose of structure-stabilizing). It is only slightly organic fertilized (about 80mg N/l).
In Addition I top-dress with Perlite since I don't want the leaves to touch moist organic soil.
I think the Dacties love it!
