Gail, thanks.

I do have 4 Tree Peonies on my small bank flowering for the first time. Two have opened. Going to dead head all seed pods on my Tree Peonies this year, sometimes if let to go to seed, they don't flower the following May.

Bank

Would like to dig these up and move them, but it's alot of work moving bigger Tree Peonies. Probably just going to leave them where they are.

Cold here, spent blooms from heavy rains

Seeing all these lovely Peonies in bloom causes me to anticipate my own Peonies which are all still in bud and not showing color yet.
Peoniaceae was until recently included in Ranunculaceae; and from a horticultural perspective, I believe it makes sense to keep it in Ranunculaceae.

I believe that we would do well to have separate phylogonies for academia  and horticulture; because academicians and gardeners often have very different perspectives and areas of importance.  Considering people, when look-alikes meet, they often treat each other as siblings even though they know they are unrelated.

The old cottage garden 'Rubra Plena' is such a joy isn't it. I didn't bring mine with me when I moved to Norfolk but fortunately my next door neighbour has one I can admire. But you are inducing serious peony envy with your Hephestos Stefan!

'Rubra Plena' was one of the first peonies in my garden, brought over from my grandfather's garden. I have been looking for "Hephaestus" for a long time and two years ago I bought it from a German nursery at a good price. Slow growing...

Here are the peonies in bloom as of today.

Interesting  - my 'Lemon Chiffon' is in full bloom but 'Coral Sunset' is still tight bud.

Интересно - моят „Лимон Шифон“ е в пълен разцвет, но „Кораловото залез“ все още е стегната пъпка.

I fixed my mistake, thanks Gail!

That makes sense Stefan (although there now seems to be a translation error!)

Going to dead head all seed pods on my Tree Peonies this year, sometimes if let to go to seed, they don't flower the following May.
Guff - I was wondering if that is really true? It sounds logical but I'm not sure of the evidence base. A study on the herbaceous officinalis implied it is more due to growing conditions.

Perhaps you could dead-head alternate ones down the row and see if there is a significant difference?

Gail

Tree Peonies on the banks only get Spring and Fall sun mostly. I have a lot of seedlings growing, and don't have the time this year to grow more. I'm just breaking off the pods.

Very pleased with this Paeony tenuifolia lithophila grown from SRGC seed sown January 2015.

Not so keen on this one. Not what I expected.  I fell in love with Paeonia wendelboi then called iranica when I saw it in Sweden a few years ago. This is also fro SRGC seed sown at the same time. I expected Paeonia wendelboi x mlokosewischii to have glaucus leaves which it does and brighter yellow flowers than mlokosewitschii which it doesn't.  I suppose it is quite attractive but I was hoping for yellow flowers.

I love the dark sheath on those tree peonies.
The Itoh 'Watermelon Wine' here - it is a somewhat deeper colour than in my photo and very nice!
