I do like that unusual Galanthus elwesii. It looks like the green mark slipped and ended up in the wrong place.

Is the end of the flower stalk pleated of is just a colour variation? Limited knowledge so not sure if this feature is the norm.

I think what you are seeing is the spathe viewed from behind. The pedicel then emerges from quite high up the spathe. It's somewhere between difficult and impossible to tell different members of the Sandersii Group apart. I don't know if this particular feature would help.
By the way, the village of Lowick is in my neighbourhood. The people who live there pronounce the Low in Lowick to rhyme with How Now Brown Cow. Just think How Now Brown Cow in Lowick and you'll get it right.

By the beginning of March the snowdrop season in Estonia has begun. Snow is gone but the temperatures are somewhat low and deeply freezing at nights. Hopefully things turn for the better later this month.

I remember how I liked your 'Pat Mason' last year, it seems a very sturdy snowdrop.
Here everything is still under snow, but in my root cellar G.gracilis sown last May is starting to germinate. :)

Stefan, the first one is really beautiful, and also you have very nice different nivalis. Mine are mostly very similar to each other.

Stefan, G. x allenii is easily recognized by the supervolute vernation combined with matt-green, rather broad leaves - something, which is rather unique among snowdrops. It´s always one of the latest to emerge in my garden, too.

Today I had time to photograph my Galanthus x allenii again, I even lay down on the lawn to smell it :) it has a nice scent. Mariette, do you think my snowdrop leaves look like yours? I can't judge.

Most of the garden is still covered with snow, but after last weeks rain some snowdrops are coming up from still frozen ground in the earliest spots.

'Glenorma' hasn't increased at all, seems to be very slow growing here.

'Irmi Poculi', an early one but very hardy and good snowdrop from a forumist from Austria.

Here the last and latest blooming snowdrop is about to bloom, I photographed it because I was impressed by its beautiful leaves. Third year blooming in my garden and starting to multiply, it makes me happy!

The leaves are looking good! I have once sown G.platyphyllus, but unfortunately seeds never germinated.
Those pictures were taken day before yesterday, and then yesterday we got more snow. Maybe good that all the snowdrops are again covered with snow because it was -11C last night. So spring is very slow to come this year.

Stefan, Your G. gracilis looks very interesting! You seem to specialize in snowdrops with four outers. :) Gracilis is definitely my favourite among the species!
As to the G. x allenii in question: if the vernation is supervolute, which I can´t tell from Your pic, it might well be this variety, though the green marks on the outers are very unusual. At least, the leaves seem green, but not shiny as those of G. woronowii, and broader.

It is interesting that there are naturalized nivalis also in Denmark. Maybe someday also in Finland.. :)
After more snow and cold couple of days, snowdrops are again trying to show up.

I will have to plant them close to each other in the future. Now they grow in different parts of the garden, and 'Ailwyn' isn't up yet.
We got some more snow, and cold nights continue, but when days are +2C, the snow slowly melts and snowdrops push through snow. :)

Spring is not easy and fast forward this year. Instead, it brought fresh carpet of snow. Some snowdrops are well advanced as some are not even showing a sign. I hope they all are alive and well though. Some warmer weather is predicted for this weekend, lets hope it is in favor of snowdrops too.

I see it is the same in Estonia as is here this spring. Easter should be warmer, but we'll see. Many snowdrops seem to be late this year, and I think it is because the ground frost came early. This same has happened in years when winter came early.
Your snowdrops look nice with snow, and at least snow protects them from cold nights. :)

My real yellow snowdrops are not up yet, but it is very typical that snowdrops are olive green here. Some more than others, some are with mulch, some don't have mulch so it isn't always because they were covered by mulch or leaves. When ground frost is deep, the olive green or yellow is more pronounced.
They become more green as flowering continues, but some are never as "green" as in more southern countries, and it depends on a year and weather.
Here is 'Bambino' coming through snow, no ground frost in this bed this year. :)

I could not understand the commentary but all the snowdrops and other plants are captioned so you know what you are looking at. I wonder if anyone we know made this?

Alan, it's me. :)
I wish I had time to write the translation, but it takes so much time. Maybe I can figure out a faster way to do it than write and translate manually. Until then I just write the names of the plants.
Most of the snowdrops are yet to come, I will make a better video when there is more to show. :)

Snow is ok for a month but 4-5 months of snow is too long when I'm so much waiting for all the plants. :)
'Glenorma' has been really slow to grow here. I planted it 2021 and there is still only one bulb.

We'll see how 'Wifi Big Bang' will do. It was planted last summer.

This is a seedling from 'E.A.Bowles', and it flowered for the first time three years ago. No special markings, but early every year (for instance close to it G.nivalis 'Flore Pleno' has not yet come up) and it has increased. I think it will be a good snowdrops for my garden.

I will. :) Snow is now melting fast, but this week will be cold again and even more snow is in the forecast. So nothing much will be happening now but this is still the best time. :)

Thank you. :) We had couple of really good days with snowdrops and other plants coming up fast, you could almost see them grow, but then cold hit again, and there is bit of setback. We call it takatalvi which means back winter. Almost every year winter tries to come back after spring is almost here. It will warm up again next week. :)
'Trinity' has been a very good snowdrop here, it increases well. G.trojanus has been slower, but hasn't minded the cold even though it seems a bit early variety.
