You could say - here or there - that the east coast is the east coast and the west coast is the west coast and the bits in between are - well - the bits in between.
It gets a bit silly here when our weather forecasters tell us the North Island is to have easterly winds changing to sou'westers and the South Island is to have nor'westers changing to southerlies and I'm surprised we're not all blowing round and round in circles.
