Is this teucrium?

(1/1)

fermi de Sousa:
I grew this from NARGS Seed labelled Salvia caespitosa and the foliage had me fooled. Then the small purplish flowers appeared and I think it's probably a Teucrium.
Any ideas? I've applied for more Salvia seed from this years' NARGS Seedex but this plant still looks worth growing in the rock garden.

Lesley Cox:
I can't really tell from the enlarged pic. You may well be right. But show me on April 10-12. Actually flying over on the 9th, Easter Monday.

Two batches I sowed last summer as S. caespitosa were both S. argentea.

grannysmith:
It could be teucrium betonicum

fermi de Sousa:
Hi Marjorie,
I "googled" T. betonicum and got a few conflicting images but in general they show a plant with spikes of flowers whereas these seem to be small and individual; the foliage isn't quite scalloped enough either.
There are 12 more pages of images but so far (page 7) nothing that comes close, though the flower shape looks right.
cheers
