My Dracaena fragrans ‘Massangeana’ was very healthy before. I live in Malta where it's v humid in summer and also in winter. she has ample but not too strong light - not touched much when people pass by her but suddenly some of her leaves are like blackish, kind of like they are burnt. Do you know what this could be?? I must admit I've constricted her to a smallish pot as don't want her to grow - should I change that? Or maybe re-pot with different soil?! Please help me!!! Thanks so much.

Francesca,

Not being experienced with your climate I can't help THAT much, but often when the ends of leaves go black it means that a plant has been overwatered? Any chance that that has happened to you? I find on houseplants that blackened leaves often means overwaterign, while browning leaves means too dry, but that is just in my situation.

Maybe someone who lives in a higher humidity area than I do could help?

Hi Paul

Thanks for your reply. I suppose that the reason could be due to anything! Plants seem to like me in general (ie they grow well!) but I must admit I don't know much about them and I usually do everything for them in a trial and error manner. It's v hot (up to 37deg celcius) in summer and quite cold (due to the damp) in winter on this island, I guess you'd have to live here really to experience it, but I'll take your advice and let her dry out completely for a week before watering her again.

Thanks again!
