Welcome to the Scottish Rock Garden Club database.
This database seeks to provide members and other users with information on plants.
Here is a list of the current implemented functions available to you :
Photo Library
The database can be searched in various ways. A look at the database search page will show that searching is possible by plant name. This can be a genus, species, variety name or all three. Just select which, type of search, type the name in the box (or part of a name) then click search. A results page will be displayed, if there is more than one match click on the appropriate choice to display the result you want. Searches ARE NOT case sensitive. That is Tulip is the same as tulip.
For example : a genus search on saxifraga - will list everything in the genus saxifraga, a species search on the same name will list all plants whose species name is saxifraga (i.e. Tunica saxifraga). When searching on variety, you may have to use quotes. That is, 'Southside, will find Saxifraga 'Southside Seedling'. Miss out the opening quote and it will not find it. If nothing is listed then either the search phrase you supplied is wrong or there are no matches in the database.
An 'All' search on a will find all plants whose genus, species or variety starts with a
Remember though that such a wide search is likely to produce a huge result set. The more precise you are, the less results.
The best way to use this database is to read the above and then give it a try, it's really very easy to understand.
