Being from Newfoundland, I can identify with the growing conditions in Scotland. I am also as you can guess from the name of Scottish heritage (3 generation) I would like to continue to visit your site from time to time.

Comment: This is so interesting! Living in Montana, USA, we are surrounded by alpine wildflowers and there is no shortage of rocks, as you can imagine! I am always interested in addding to and improving my flower beds...most recent project is a dry-stacked stone wall I built from beautifully colored chunks of native shale. That's how I stumbled onto your website. There is so much to the world of rock gardening and most of this is new to me. Thanks for the information.

Comment: Hello, What a terrific site for Alpines! Though really I stopped by to view Dumpling (as directed by Fred) and those beautiful babes. Thank you so much for enabling me to look at their step by step growth, it's been wonderful, but the photo where the eldest chick has it's wing over the other is so very heart-warming. Thank you so much for that wonderful opportunity Ian, a wonderful record of Nature. Many thanks to you too Fred! A terrific site and I'll be back to look at those Alpines again - magnificent. So many thanks, Sue.

Comment: I was pointed to srgc by the fritillaria group of the Alpine Garden Society to Ian Young's bulb log. I live in south coastal Alaska, near a vast glacial delta of sand and well drained soil similar to Holland. Salmon (copper river, the highest quality in the world) is my communities' industry, and the waste provides a stream for composting with local spruce. I am beginning the cultivation of frit. camscatcensis, and am pulling together all the cultural resources I can, and growing others frits because of my fascination with them. Your site looks fantastic, and as soon as I sign in, will jump into it.
