how do I keep Daphnes healthy in pots? What compost mix and what food? To repot one do I put the whole lot in a new pot or tease the roots so they are very loose

I notice that Mark didn't get a reply to this one so can I try again.

I have just begun to form an interest in Daphnes with a view to growing some in pots. My reading, so far, suggests that this is only possible with the low growing species. Is there any any disagreement with this view?
Could anyone advise please what species to try and what sort of compost mix to use. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Found Ian Young's piece-Sunday February 8 2004-under thread title "Daphne petrea Grandiflora"-
http://www.srgc.org.uk/discus/messages/4/1606.html
very useful, and a compost mix recipe too. Have also read Ian Christie's piece on Daphne grafting-but must learn how to grow 'em first!!

Mark what compost mix are you using? From your photo of SDR2 that won you the prize it looks to be in a fairly large pot-do you have the size?

probably a compost that it will hate. 50/50 bought top soil and grit. I shall sleep sound even though there will probably be gasps in the morning. I'll measure the pot tomorrow

I did ask about mixtures but my request was ingnored :-(

Mark, smacked wrists! You must pay more attention! On the "old" daphnae page, cited above, here is the url again: http://www.srgc.org.uk/discus/messages/4/1606.html
Ian Y. states in the second post on the page,in reply to Gerry Keane's question, our potting mix.
The answer was there all this time, since 8/2/2004 and you made a post yourself on that page 10/2/2004!! Okay, I'll stop telling you off now... I guess I'm feeling very grumpy today... these late nights are not good for me!
